where did you learn all this? And he replied:

became my tutor and taught me,
for the all-Merciful taught the Qur’an.”

(peace and blessings upon him) said;
"The guidance and knowledge with which God has sent me are like abundant rain which fell on a land. A fertile part of it absorbed the water and brought forth profuse herbage and pasture; and solid ground patches which retained the water by which God has benefited people, who drank from it, irrigated their crops and sowed their seeds; and another sandy plane which could neither retain the water nor produce herbage. Such is the similitude of the person who becomes well-versed in the religion of God and receives benefit from the Message entrusted to me by God, so he himself has learned and taught it to others; such is also the similitude of the person who has stubbornly and ignorantly rejected God's Guidance with which I have been sent.''

The true interpretation of the Quran is that which inspires and warms you, filling you with hope, stirring you to serve, shaming you with a sense of reverence. If the interpretaion makes you dull-witted and slack, you should know that it is indeed "misinterpretation" rather than interpretation. The Quran was revealed to warm people up, to hold out a hand to the hopeless. Ask the meaning of the Quran from the Quran alone. Otherwise, inquire of someone who has consumed his passions, given up his life for the Quran, bowing in homage before it, so that his spirit has itself become, in essence, the Quran.

I leave behind me two things,

and if you follow these you will never go astray.

With eager desire you are setting out to acquire knowledge, my friend; of yourself you are making clear how genuine is your longing and how passionate your thirst for it. Be sure that, if in your quest for knowledge your aim is to gain something for yourself and to surpass your fellows, to attract men’s attention to yourself and to amass this worldy vanities, then you are on the way to bring your religion to nothing and destroy yourself, to sell your eternal life for this present one; your bargain is dead loss, your trading without profit.
On the other hand, if in seeking knowledge your intention and purpose between God most high and yourself is to receive guidance and not merely to acquire information, then rejoice. The angels will spread out their wings for you when you walk, and the denizens of the sea will ask pardon from God for you when you run.

The souls of the knowledgeable are lost in the oceans of love for the most perfect of GOD’s creatures, GOD’s beloved, the sublime model of all perfection, our Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings upon him . Their thirst has only increased and they continue to rise up the scale of love, each at his station and according to his aspiration.
